Local Guide

We love New York City. So we have compiled some of our favorite stomping grounds for you. Whether your visit is pleasantly brief or impressively lengthy, consider incorporating some of these local gems into your schedule.

Want a taste of NYC? Stay near Chelsea Market

Chelsea Market, a former cookie factory, is home to various shops and restaurants

This market has an array of sweet and savory shops for locals and travelers to browse through. Specifically though, venture into The Lobster Place. They have wholesale seafood at amazing prices and serve lobster bisque in a bread bowl...yum.

If something sweet is at the forefront of your mind, indulge in Fat Witch Bakery brownies. They are monstrous, not to mention to die for.

Soak up Creativity in Chelsea

The elevated High Line park is a green oasis in Manhattan's West Side

If you're staying at The Maritime Hotel pick a day to rise early and take a stroll across the High Line with a warm cup of Blue Bottle Coffee made to order. This is one extraordinarily unique park that was built on a retired elevated train track. Rather than tear it down, inventive locals have transformed something once deemed useless into a community hub.

Combined, the series of rotating exhibitions at the Chelsea art galleries create an ever changing, life like landmark. One that never ceases to draw the curious and art loving travelers. Chelsea is alive with creativity.

Nightlife in NYC

Rise to the top and enjoy cocktails and more in the rooftop bar at the Gansevoort Park Avenue. This skyhigh oasis offers six distinct venues where fashionable patrons take in unhindered views of the Empire State Building and other iconic New York City landmarks.

If you are looking for something more discreet, visit TBA in Brooklyn for danceable electronic music with that underground party feel.

What We Love

Everyone has 'that one spot' they revisit time and again. Well, here are two of ours.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Basque in the New York City sun with East River views at the Brooklyn Bridge Park. This is the perfect place to have a picnic and relax. If you are looking for a little more activity, trot on over to the entrance of Pier 1 for bike rentals. You'll soon find yourself zooming past pedestrians with nothing short of a grin on your face.

Take a stroll across the bridge and enjoy the stunning view of Lower Manhattan from Brooklyn Bridge Park

Shopping in New York

NYC is a shopping destination. You can find absolutely everything and anything in the Big Apple. Get inspired by our favorite New York shopping spots:

Head uptown to the "must stop by" Bergdorf's, for a little quintessential 5th Avenue shopping...pricey and fabulous. Then continue down 5th to see the shops at Rockefeller Plaza at 49th & 5th. A quick stop at Saks Fifth Avenue but definitely a walk by the Saks Windows is always fun!

Window shopping on Fifth Avenue is a quintessential New York experience

Take the subway downtown to HousingWorks in Chelsea for a check on what NYC's best second-hand store has to offer and to do some good with your shopping dollars.

After all that walking with bags in your hands, take an Uber for a ride back to your boutique hotel in style.

Finding your way in the city…

HopStop.com is our go to for quick and easy directions and getting around by subway, bus or on foot. Taking a taxi this time of year can be time-consuming unless you have lots of time and texting to do.
