How to transform your spare room

If you are lucky enough to have a spare room within your home and you aren’t sure of how to make the most of an extra room, this article will offer an insight into how to improve the look of a spare room and examples of different functions of spare rooms will be discussed.

Change your flooring

Sometimes spare rooms are neglected, and the look of the floor in this room isn’t of the highest importance within a home’s décor. So now is the time to look at the flooring in your guest room and if you aren’t happy with it you will be able to choose a flooring which is more to your taste. Underfoot Flooring is a good place to start you search as they have various styles and designs of flooring and they range from real wood to laminate flooring, so this is ideal for almost every type of customer. Underfoot also offers free delivery and returns to UK mainland, so do not worry if you decide the floor is no longer for you once it has been delivered.

Add wall art

Adding wall art to a room is an easy way of adding style to an unused room. The types of wall art that are appropriate depend on the usage of the room, for example if the room is being used as a walk-in wardrobe, the chances are girly artwork will be used opposed to using the room as a man cave.

Turn the room into a study

If you have been working at home as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, then you may appreciate having your own study. Unfortunately, we do not know how long the COVID-19 pandemic is going to last for and we may need to work at home for many more months, so if this is the case a study will be very beneficial for having a quiet space to get deadlines completed and to par take in group video calls.

Turn the room into a guest room

This is probably the most common use of a spare room. It is important to have a guest room if you are someone that likes to invite friends and family over to stay. Whilst some guests may be fine with just sleeping on a sofa on your living room for a night, it is nice to make a guest feel at home by offering them their own bed and room for the duration of their stay. If you are unsure about using your spare room solely as a guest room, then it may be a good idea to put a day bed in that room, so it can be used at night as a bed and during the day as a sofa.

If you have children, turn it into a playroom

A playroom will give your children their own space to play in. A play room is also where children’s toys can lie around, if you don’t want lots of children’s toys lying around in your living room, then a play room will help solve this issue. A playroom can also be used as a study room for older children to homework in, which will help create a quiet and relaxed space for them to work in.

Create a games room

A games room for adults has become very popular in recent times. Most game rooms have a snooker table or foosball table, these kinds of tables help to create group fun and they also help to give a room character. Gaming doesn’t just have to be physical, people can also have a room which is designed for virtual gaming. Whatever type of gaming room you decide to have, it will be for sure be one to brag about.
