What Are the Benefits of Buying a Laser?

Laser engravers can be an extremely useful tool that can boost your business performance. Of course, it is a big investment, and buying it would only make sense if you plan on using it regularly.

There are various types of laser engravers for sale, you just need to find the one that will meet the needs of your business. However, if you’re not entirely sure you want to buy it, we are here to give you a little nudge in the right direction. We’ve compiled a list of reasons that explain why owning a laser engraver can benefit you and your business.

Laser Machines Are Very Versatile

Laser machines can be used for many purposes — laser engraving, cutting, marking and etching can all be done by one machine. The machine would use a specific program, based on the action it needs to perform.

You can use it for cutting out desired shapes, engraving something on a certain material, marking a bar code, or creating other forms of traceability markings on specific objects. You can do it all with only one machine.

Laser Cutting & Engraving Is Safe to Perform

Naturally, when using a high-powered laser, you should take certain precautions, since these can cause skin or eye injuries. However, given the fact that all the laser cutting or engraving is performed in an enclosed and interlocked space, they are considered low-risk devices.

Remember, you should never manipulate any safety features, as they have been created for a reason.

Laser Engravers Work on an Array of Materials

If you’re not sure what materials you can use a laser on, the answer is — almost everything. Laser engraving and cutting are performed by directing a highly concentrated stream of rays through lenses and onto the surface. The lenses enhance the laser’s power that then melts, burns, and vaporizes that specific surface.

It can be used on materials such as acrylic, nylon, stainless steel, silicone, sheet metal, wood, paper, rubber materials, and many others. The options might seem endless. However, there might be some limitations when laser cutting is concerned. For example, you can’t use it on certain metals that reflect too much light, as it won’t have the same effect. Interestingly, transparent materials also tend to pose a problem to laser cutting machines — instead of absorbing the heat of the laser, these materials tend to let it pass through.

These Machines Are Eco-Friendly

Compared to other forms of cutting or engraving, laser machines don’t produce additional waste, and they don’t need additional consumables in order to function. The only thing they need is electricity.

If you want to mark an object with a laser, you won’t have any additional expenses or materials you’d need to use. However, if you want to do chemical etching, you’d need to purchase all the necessary chemicals, follow all the protocols in order to avoid injuries, and adhere to the rules of legally disposing of these chemicals. In the end, the laser machine is simply a better and safer option.
