How to Remove Sticker Residue from Water Bottles

Almost everyone has a Hydro Flask these days, and despite being the same color, most peoples are unique to them. The growing popular trend of putting stickers on Hydro Flasks is not slowing down. Just like any object with a sticker on it, at some point you may want to remove that sticker to replace it with something more current to you. After removing the sticker, you’ll often notice sticker residue left on your Hydro Flask. How can you remove the sticker residue from your Hydro Flask without ruining the flask itself?

The cheaper the sticker, the bigger the mess that is left behind. The best way to remove a sticker is to buy the higher quality stickers in the first place. They’re easier and safer to remove from Hydro Flasks. Though, no matter the sticker, there are methods you can use to get sticker residue off of the water bottle

The Good Old Soap & Water Trick

First, you’ll want to fill a small bowl with warm water. Add one tablespoon of liquid soap, don’t worry if it’s not exact. Soak your bottle in the water for a few minutes if you can. You may need a larger bowl and some more water and soap to do this, but this can help loosen the glue that holds that sticker. Don’t add too much soap, it will make the entire process more slippery and won’t allow you to get the adhesive off effectively. For the most part, after a good soak, scrubbing the residue will get the job done.

A Little Isopropyl Alcohol Might Help

After you have peeled off the sticker and you are stuck with some residue, another helpful method is to grab an isopropyl alcohol wipe and gently rub it away. This should only take a few minutes until your Hydro Flask is as good as new.

Heat the Sticker Up with a Hair Dryer

You’ll want most of the sticker gone before attempting this method because the hot air will melt the actual sticker if left one, making it more difficult to remove the residue. But once you do have most of the sticker removed, plug the hair dryer in and turn it on low. Make sure the air is warm that is coming out before you start. Wave it over the residue for about 30 seconds, then try peeling off the remaining adhesive. Apply more heat, then remove more. Repeat this process until the residue is completely gone.

Use Higher Quality Stickers

This whole process of placing and removing stickers on and off of your Hydro Flas is so much easier when you use a high-quality sticker in the first place. Cheap stickers leave residue, whereas high-quality stickers are going to be easier and cleaner when replaced.
