It is the beginning of a new year and you, like most people will have certain expectations which might involve a do-over. You have probably been living in the same place for a really long time and scared to make a change. Everyone is afraid of change but if we do not take it we will never know what is on the other side. Leaving your comfort zone might be the best thing you will do in 2020. In your defence you might have gone on vacations to different countries and you have come to learn and love a diverse array of people and their culture but it is not the same as staying in a place for longer than a few weeks. Moving to a new city is a major move and should be considered thoroughly before a decision is made, you do not want to end up being stranded or hating your move due to a lack of proper planning on your part. Here are some reasons why you should do it, do it afraid but do it anyway:
Independence
This is one of the best things you can experience as an adult, you learn to become independent and adult even better. The initial stage might be a struggle because you –like a lot of people- are used to living with your family and have people assist you in getting things done, consciously or unconsciously. You might not have even had any cause to be solely responsible for your finances but here you are now, being responsible and all.
Living alone
Living alone is one of the most attractive reasons to move to a new city. The whole idea of discovering yourself for some people makes absolutely no sense, but it does work. You can only discover yourself by yourself and not through the lens of others and at times to achieve this goal we need to isolate ourselves, spend more time with ourselves and just erase outside noise. If you have lived with your parents all your life and you are used to living with certain rules, this might be your pathway to freedom
Increase your financial capital
This is a solid reason to leave your current city, if you are starting a business and your target audience is not in your city, you could move to a different one as long as you have carried out your feasibility study and you have a market there. Another way to penetrate into a new city is to get a job opportunity, you could start searching for a job and might be lucky to have the company get you an apartment and help you settle down.
To make new friends
You could go to new places to meet people, there are several articles on the internet that give you tips on how and where to meet new people but it is a different ball game when you move to a new city. You might have been able to go to these places and connect with people due to similarities you share but making friends with someone who has a culture and lifestyle almost entirely different from yours gives you a different perspective to life and could also be one of the best friendships you will ever have.
For a start-over
It gives you an opportunity to break away from routines and focus or start new habits. Making changes in a familiar environment is usually hard considering you must have built a routine around that life. Moving to an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people makes it possible to break away. There is also always that fear that making changes around people that you are so familiar with would have them thinking differently of you but around people that do not know who you are, you can be anybody or anything.
